Blind Eye, 2018

The portraits of the “Blind Eye” collection are created by an art generating machine called “Protogenes”. This machine artist is literally a small black box. It creates a new piece of art every few seconds – indefinitely. All it needs is power and a display. Inside the box, a custom GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) and a post processing pipeline is used for image generation.

This particular neural network developed an affinity for depicting portraits of people with one blind eye. Once in a while this is compensated with a face having a third eye.
