(Non-)Human (2020) is a kinetic AI installation that conjures the hidden human-ness in objects and imagines a speculative world where a human exists in non-human forms.

This project is an experiment about examining human consciousness through non-human objects and intelligent machines. By using GAN as a way of abstraction, I captured my subconscious movement during my sleeping hours, and used it to generate and drive the movement of a bedsheet, thereby giving the bedsheet “consciousness” and “humanness”.

It is a piece created in May 2020 that speculates, from a posthumanism perspective, about the alternative forms of our existence after the outbreak of a pandemic, and the invisible connection between us and the greater, non-human-centric world.
