Machine Hallucinations – Nature Dreams (2020). Imagining nature as a totality that fills the gaps in our otherwise narrow perception of the world lies at the heart of Refik Anadol Studio’s Nature Dreams – a series of synesthetic reality experiments based on StyleGAN2 algorithm and Latent Space Browser. Applying machine learning to 46,474,696 million images, Anadol transforms a dataset into a latent cinematic dimension. The final immersive artwork is a multi-sensory experience, incorporating pigments, shapes, and patterns that we associate with nature while paying homage to its unbound poetic sublimity.
